LIAT, formally known as Leeward Islands Air Transport, came into existence in October of 1956. It has its headquarters located in Antigua, and as many as 491 flights are operated on weekly basis to transport a host of passengers. Being a regional airline, it flies to/from 15 destinations, such as Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, San Juan PR, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Vincent, Tortola and Trinidad. VC Bird International Airport, Grantley Adams International Airport and Piarco International Airport are the operating basis of the air carrier from where its fleet, which contains 10 aircraft, takes off. Thanks to its exceptional services and timely performance, the airline has been growing by leaps and bounds.
BAGGAGE POLICY
The airline allows its passengers to carry one piece of cabin baggage along with a small personal item on board in all of the LIAT Airlines flights. Each carry-on piece, however, must fulfill the weight and size requirements. It cannot have the dimensions more than 21 x 14 x 8 inches and also, its weight must be at most 15 lbs. in order to be accepted.
In regard to the Checked Baggage, passengers are permitted to check in one piece of luggage as free baggage allowance into the hold of the aircraft as long as its overall dimensions are not more than 62 inches and it carries weight less than 50 lbs.
